Who is Ann Totten?

Meet Ann

I  first entered the world of online business a couple of years ago…quite by accident.   So, lets start with a little more on what I  was doing before then.

I have been married to Bill for over 28 years now.

We have 4 kids, ranging in age 18-24.   I have been a computer programmer, working full time for just over 20 years.   So, to say the least, I had not had much time for a business of my own.

But, about 5 years ago, it seemed like some of my “free time” came back.   Well, sort of.   I had been thinking for a while that I should start some kind of business.   I knew that if I wanted to travel and possibly spent more time at the beach..let alone help out my kids with their college expenses, then our salaries just were not going to make it.

So, I thought about what I was good at.  I was good at baking.   Well, after my husband  told a friend about my thoughts, she approached me about starting a home based business with her company.   And I did.  It just made sense to me.  It was “turn key”, I was not actually making the products and I would be working with friends.

I did not know the first thing about Network Marketing.   I did what my friend and sponsor told me to do.   I went to meetings, asked friends to go to meetings with me.   I was talking to people who did not even have starting a business on their radar.   I took people out to lunch and went through a flip chart while they ate.   And I did OK.  For about 6 months.

Something was just not quite right.   I felt that I was approaching people who were not the least bit interested in what I had to say.   So, after a while, I stopped talking to people.   And, you guessed it, my business died a slow death.

But, I was still a firm believer in the industry of network marketing.   With my 20+ years in corporate America, I know competition.   I know what it is like to work for someone else.   I know that if I train someone else really well, I may be looking for a new job sooner than I planned.   I also know that in Network Marketing, the better I train someone, the better I’ll do.

I also felt that I needed to build an online presence.   This is where many people fail in traditional network marketing.   They approach their family and friends and may be successful at that.  But, the list eventually dries up.   Then they start asking for referrals.   What I would rather do is use online methods to have customers and potential business partners find me.

How does that sound???   Only talking to people who want what you have.   If that sounds good, then check out some of the tips and tools that I have on this site.   What to contact me?   Use the “Got Questions” box to the right.
